Beyond Rescue: Victimological Challenges in Investigation and Rehabilitation of Trafficking Survivors

Abstract

Human trafficking is a global issue which is going to affect the rights of individuals who may be of any age or gender, though
underprivileged women and children are more affected. It is an issue of importance to public health. This paper aims to analyse
the challenges in the investigation of such incidents and the rehabilitation of the survivors of such incidents after they have
been rescued. Google Scholar and Scopus search engines were used in this research. Gaps in the investigation of trauma to
the victims and the hindrances and barriers in the rehabilitation were identified. All our efforts should be victim-centred if we
wish to overcome these challenges in investigation and rehabilitation.
